Changing Habits

Changing Habits

You can use the Easy Mental Fitness (EMF) techniques here to help change things you no longer want to do.
Maybe you want to quit smoking. Maybe you need to stop biting your nails. Maybe you want to improve your sleep.

We develop habits as ways to function in society or as ways to cope with situations and events. These can be helpful at certain stages of our lives but later become unhelpful or unhealthy; but hard to change.

Examples include:
  • Quit Smoking
  • Stop biting nails
  • Overcome fear of flying
  • Reduce alcohol consumption
  • Improve sleep
  • Reduce pain
  • Endure difficulties

What usually happens when a habit is about to kick in is that you will feel a kind of impulse to do it.
Here is the chance to change it. Tell yourself "STOP!", then...
... do one of the EMF techniques instead.
It may take time to maintain this, but keep trying. The more you practice, the easier it gets.

You can also teach these to your children and family members to help them cope with their own emotions or stresses.
